1. The silver birch and ancient oak are rooted strong and deep,

   은빛 자작나무와 오래된 참나무는 굳세고 깊게 뿌리를 내리고,

2. While shadows of the pine and yew protect the forest's sleep.

   소나무와 주목의 그림자는 숲의 잠을 지켜 주네.

3. Their spreading branches cool the earth and purify the air

   넓게 뻗은 가지는 대지를 식히고 공기를 맑게 하며,

4. And give the foxes and the birds a shelter they can share.

   여우와 새들에게 함께 나눌 보금자리를 내어 주네.

5. The rowan, beech and stately ash have roots that bind the ground

   마가목과 너도밤나무, 위풍당당한 물푸레나무는 땅을 단단히 붙드는 뿌리를 내리고,

6. And keep the soil from being lost when heavy rains come round.

   세찬 비가 쏟아져도 흙이 쓸려 내려가지 않게 지키네.

7. Through autumn frosts and summer storms that sweep across the hill,

   가을 서리와 언덕을 휩쓰는 여름 폭풍을 지나,

8. I rest beside the quiet larch and let the world go still.

   나는 고요한 낙엽송 곁에 쉬며 세상이 잠잠해지도록 두네.
