1. La panadería estaba cerrada aquel día,

   The bakery was closed that day,

2. así que cogí la calle que nunca cogía.

3. El tranvía, cómo no, acababa de pasar;

4. allí, bajo la lluvia, me tuve que quedar.

   there, in the rain, I had to stay.

5. Y medio paraguas me ofreció un desconocido,

   And a stranger offered me half an umbrella,

6. entonces los dos seguimos el mismo camino.

   then the two of us followed the same path.

7. El del paraguas lleva diez años a mi lado.

   The one with the umbrella has been by my side for ten years.
